Andy Murray Announces His Retirement From Tennis While Breaking Down At His Press Conference At The Aussie Open
I’m sure I’m writing to the smallest percentage of people who are tennis fans on this website, but I thought Andy Murray retiring deserved a blog. He’s going to remain in the upcoming Aussie Open, which begins on Sunday, and will try to tough it out until Wimbledon in July, which will be his final tournament. I honestly don’t even know if he finishes this one before calling it quits with how bad his hip injury is. He played Djokovic I feel like he has to play in the Aussie, try to win a few matches, then go into a freezer until July for Wimbledon. That’s the perfect way for him to go out.
I wasn’t necessarily the biggest Murray guy considering after every point or call that didn’t go his way he would immediately bitch and moan to his player’s box with the same look on his face. And I mean EVERY single call this happened. Still he was an awesome tennis player and will go down as one of the best returners in the history of the sport. Andy could get to any ball on the court in his prime and thus frustrate the hell out of his opponent by putting it back in play. He’ll go down as the best English tennis player to ever live, and is the only Brit to ever be ranked number one in the world. He played in an era where Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal dominated the world, but still managed to win three grand slam titles. If Murray plays during any other era he probably has upwards of 10 grandslams. I’ll never forget when Murray won Wimbledon for the first time in 2013, becoming the first Brit to do so in over 75 years. He had been to four straight semifinals in the years leading up to it, including a runner up finish in 2012. The guy had an entire country breathing down his neck with all the pressure in the world and he finally delivered.
Pretty cool moment, you don’t even have to like tennis.
And of course, his wife Kim Sears. Always a lovely sight in the stands. You won’t find any racy photos of Kim out there because she’s very proper, but she’s certainly someone I’d love to disappoint in bed.
